Life would be pretty boring if you didn't try something new every once in a while, no??
New Thing #1: Zumba
This week, I tried my very first Zumba class. I was invited to attend the class by my mother-in-law, of all people. :) It took place in a community centre just outside of the city....it looked something like this, only with more 60-something year-old ladies shakin' their groove thang:
To be honest, I had a blast. The instructor was an absolute riot and the music took me back to my university days when I spent time in the reggae and soca clubs of Detroit with my Bahamian roommate. I'm going back for more next week.
New Thing #2: Lindt Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt
Don't let the name fool you - this stuff is to DIE for. The best part? One itty-bitty square can annihilate a chocolate craving for less than 50 calories.
This is definitely a responsible way to indulge. The Chili flavour is next on my list.
New Thing #3: Going Scale-free
That's right...I didn't get on the scale once all week. My schedule was nutty and it was the last thing on my mind. It seems that NOT obsessing may have been a good thing, because I'm down 3 pounds this week. Woot!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi Rae, thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteThe choc looks good and sea salt a win..always been a Lindt fan.
Caramels with sea salt are also all the rage.
Favorite: really high quality vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and coarse sea salt on top! Sounds weird but sure is good.
Keep up the losing!
Hmmm, I'll have to try that chocolate. I wonder how many points!
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering about this Zumba rage! Glad to hear you liked it!
And...LOVE that you went scale free!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay on the 3 pounds!
J
I can get into choc & sea salt ... but chili??? You'll have to give us an update, I can't imagine it. Great job ignoring the scale ... it's an evil mind-trick!
ReplyDeleteThis is like a "my favorite things" blog! I love Zumba! Every instructor is different and I never get bored with it. And a coworker of mine loves that chocolate (and entices me with it every so often). So good!
ReplyDeleteI am totally craving dark chocolate now -- the salted dark chocolate sounds great, will have to look for that...
ReplyDeleteZumba is totally addictive. I started this summer and love it. The problem? The longer I do it, the harder it is to reach my caloric burn but it sure is fun so I just supplement it if necessary.
ReplyDeleteI have the Zumba DVDs, they're a lot of fun. I don't have the time to try a class, I'd love to, though.
ReplyDeleteOMG, that chocolate looks awesome! Congrats on losing 3 pounds - keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteZumba is absolutely the best! I am really addicted, like I get upset if I have to miss a class. I go 5-6 times a week!
ReplyDeleteI remember you were talking about Zumba. Bet you're glad you went. I will definitely try that...and soon. I never knew Lindt make chocolate with sea salt...mmm, sounds good. WTG Raegun, both on and off the scale!
ReplyDeleteMMMMMMM that chocolate looks awesome. I love dark chocolate. Sometimes I freeze so it lasts longer in my mouth. And, not toooo many calories. Scale free sounds like a plan.
ReplyDeleteFab loss! Well done! That Zumba thing looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteYea for new things!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the loss and thanks for the tip on the chocolate! I need a guilt-free, small portion treat.
ReplyDeleteZumba is so much fun! Glad you enjoyed it!!
ReplyDeleteKeep focused!
I've heard that the chili chocolate is good, but haven't tried it myself. I will take pretty much anything with sea salt on it, though. Congrats on the weight loss! Sounds like you had a good week overall. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the great loss! I've never tried Zumba, but I would if I could take a class with a bunch of older ladies--less intimidating! lol
ReplyDeleteI tried a zumba class for the first time a few weeks ago too! I was so scared thinking I would make a fool of myself, but I loved it as well :)
ReplyDeleteDid I mention that I tried this candy bar because of you? And the whole thing was 15 WW points lol but it was a planned indulgence. I loved it. Never again though lol
ReplyDeleteA new dance studio has opened near my work with ZUMBA. I have done zumba at work with the teens and liked it, but I am ready to go to an adult class :)
ReplyDeleteZumba is so fun! I totally bought the DVD they keep advertising on TV and it is a blast! I've only done it a few times though since half marathon training has worn me out. But I hope to get back into it after my race. Man on man did I work up a sweat!!
