throwdown!

Big news! In the spirit of motivation, bloggie support and fuelling competitive fires, I am stoked to announce a new challenge for November:
This challenge idea was born out of a blogger friendship with Katie from Finding the Thin Within. You see, we have bonded over a mutual love of the Biggest Loser, running, and Bobby Flay (hence the name, which we borrowed from his Food Network show!). We have similar fitness levels and feel we're fairly well-matched for this challenge. The premise is simple: find a blogger of similar fitness level/weight and challenge one another to accomplish great things in November. For us, this is a mileage challenge. We will track all miles logged on foot. The one with the most miles logged by the end of November wins. Simple as that.

Now, I have to admit, I am getting nervous as this challenge draws near! If you read my last post which illustrated the extent of my dedication to running via pie chart, you'll know that I need a push in the right direction. I'm hoping the cold, dark days of November don't slow me down. ;)

I encourage you to get out there, find a worthy competitor and throw down the gauntlet, folks!

Now, being a teen of the 1990s (and from Toronto at that), the very word "throwdown" automatically brings the beats of Maestro Fresh Wes' Let Your Backbone Slide to mind:
"This is a throwdown, a showdown
hell no, I can't slow down!"

Sorry - but I just had to include the video as a little blast from the past. Don't hate! LOL

Have a great week, everyone!

  5. Great idea, but it's rather hard to find someone I can compete with, as people of my fitness level are usually attached to machines in intensive care units!

  7. I was watching the video you put up, and my hubby walked by me and exclained, "Maestro Fresh Wes!" LMAO! Yup...we were teens in the 90's too (and lived close to Toronto!)

  11. I love this. I read about it on Big Clyde's page and immediately challenged that Pretty Boy Travis over at Finally Airborne. And, to make matters interesting, there is a side wager with a bit of humiliation attached . . . .
